The photo above was taken last february; I'm grateful and SO proud of all the learning, growth, and happiness I've earned during the past 365 days. What a difference a year makes.
(Especially weather wise. Chicago is currently snowed over and covered in ice. Last year, it was 70 degrees and I was at the beach. It would almost be funny if it wasn't scary. Climate change is very real; don't let anyone tell you differently.)
But, hey! Valentine's Day is coming up - a holiday completely dedicated to all forms of love. A day completely dedicated to sharing and receiving love!! The best holiday!! I can't imagine a better time to reevaluate the energy you're putting out into the world - whether that be towards yourself or others.
It's not always sunshine and rainbows. Growth, love, and happiness are all messy, confusing, and complicated. They require you get comfortable with being uncomfortable. But that discomfort is where you learn and change. Be brave, have courage, and commit to working on yourself. Anything that's worth having doesn't come easy. Actively choose - every day, every decision - to be a better version of you. Choose to spread love, joy, and light.
Life is not happening to you. Life is happening for you. Control what you can and let go of the rest. We're only on this earth for a little while! We simply don't have enough time for negativity.
Live a life you're proud of. Love yourself, love others, be KIND.
